ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Chaz Benjamin Phillips was born on the 4th February 1990 and is the only child of Chris and Brenda Phillips.
He was very interested in watching his mum type on the computer and decided he would give it a go himself. In fact, he wrote Santa Comes Santa Goes when he was 6 years old. Now, to his friends he is Az and attends Coopers Coborn in Upminster. He is currently working on an action book with his two best friends, Apo and Kaz.

About the Artist

Nausicaa met Bren and Chris on a skiing holiday in Romania and they soon became good friends. She was living in Timisoara and following the revolution in Romania she came to live in England with Chris and Bren. Az was still a baby at this point and the talented young artist Nausicaa helped look after him. Then when Az wrote the book, she was very happy to do the pictures for it and even her son Marco, who is also a very skilled artist helped out!

Here is a little poem that I (Az) wrote, 1 year ago

BLACK AND BLUE

I sit alone, tired, on my bed
A million and one questions buzz through my head.
Why do they continue to torture me?
I'm like them, can they not see?

So what if I'm black and they are white?
What difference does it make, I know I'm right.
I can't go outside without breaking a rule
In fact I think I'm going to end it all.

In Heaven will God let me in?
Is God even there to help those who sin?
Is God white or is he black?
If I go to Heaven, I'll never come back.

I have no friends, no body to care
Even if I'm hungry, homeless and bare.
So, I'm an outcast, sad but true.
Sitting in my room, black and blue.
